It’s time to do a bit of catching up for everyone. The day our house officially closed, we drove to Yakima, Washington for family time. After a week we head south to Bend, Oregon and stayed three nights in a tiny house within walking distance of downtown and the Mirror Pond area. Here’s a link to our Airbnb stay.
We used to ski Mt. Bachelor and have stayed in Bend a number of times over the years, but it has been quite some time since we have visited this area. My, oh my, it has grown in leaps and bounds. Bend has always been a mecca, of sorts, for year round outdoor activities and has fast become a destination for those wanting to imbibe in the more recent sport of microbrewery hopping. But with growth comes traffic! Even so, we enjoyed the eclectic mix of art, sports, wine, and brews.
We left Bend and spent the next three days traveling south. We stopped for one night in Winnemucca, Nevada and enjoyed a Basque dinner to celebrate our anniversary. The drive through Nevada was a real surprise. Years ago we had traveled across Nevada in the fall to very different views of sun baked land. This time the beauty of the snow topped mountains on either side, the gray/green/blue shrubs and grasses covering the landscape, and many spring flowers blooming made for a delightful drive. After an uneventful stop in Las Vegas for the night we arrive in Sedona, Arizona where we will be staying for the month of May.
